“The Art of Magic”

Taught by:  Marcus the Magician

July 16 – 20, 2012

Students: Ages  10-13

Details :

THE ART OF MAGIC- The class will teach the students basic magic techniques, and expand upon these basics to introduce more advanced effects and sleights with common objects, as each student is ready. Each lesson will include a brief introduction to magic theory and ethics, historic milestones and names in magic, and will cover a wide range of magic, in order to give a solid overview on what is available. The course will culminate with short student performances on the last day of classes.

There will be a $10.00 materials fee in addition to tuition.

He is still the most famous magician in history!

Today is the birthday of Erich Weiss, whose stage name became Harry Houdini. He was born March 24, 1874 in Budapest Hungary. (although he always claimed that his birthday was April 6th and his birthplace was Appleton Wisconsin). This would make him 138 years old today! Happy Birthday Harry!!!

We were able to call upon both the technical theater and performing expertise of The Amazing Richard (Rich Archer) to make the show a success.

Our two third grade students, Juliana Earle and Jamie Goldbach, impressed us with short routines of their own, in which they made a dove appear and a student’s briefs disappear.

Marcus the Magician and The Amazing Richard will appear on stage together for the first time in 10 years, to perform a fundraiser show for the Waldorf School of Cape Cod, 140 Old Oyster Road Cotuit, MA on Saturday, January 28, at 4 PM.

They last appeared together in the stage production, “Magic by the Sea” in Chatham, Massachusetts, was seen by over 30,000 persons over its 12 year run from 1989 two 2001.

Marcus performs a very visual, high-energy, comedy magic show, for all ages. He uses the children to assist him, while parents and peers watch these assistants become the performers. A dove may be miraculously produced during a performance filled with fun and laughter. His magic rabbit, “Abracadabra” sometimes even makes a surprise appearance.

The Amazing Richard combines an astonishing mix of sleight of hand and comedy magic. You will thrill to his inventive illusions and enjoy lots of comedic audience participation. His amazing ability to connect with his audience allows them to enjoy a truly magical show!
